FAQ

We love questions! Here are some of the questions we hear most often.

Our staff at PearTree Daycare and Academy brings a wealth of experience and a passion for early childhood education. All of our teachers have experience working with children and are dedicated to providing a nurturing, engaging environment. To ensure high-quality care and education, our staff regularly participates in professional development and in-service trainings, keeping them updated on best practices in early childhood education. Every member of our team is also certified in CPR and First Aid, so you can have peace of mind knowing that your child is in safe, capable hands.

Yes, you can stay connected with your child throughout the day using the Brightwheel app! This platform allows you to receive updates, photos, and messages from your child’s teacher, giving you a glimpse into their daily activities and progress. In the event of an emergency, our staff will contact you immediately. Please note though, that our teachers prioritize the care and supervision of the children, so they will respond to non-urgent questions or comments at their earliest convenience.

At PearTree Daycare and Academy, we adhere to the Virginia daycare code for child-to-teacher ratios to ensure that each child receives attentive and personalized care. The ratios are as follows:

  • Infants (up to 16 months): 1 teacher for every 4 children
  • Toddlers (16 to 24 months): 1 teacher for every 5 children
  • 2-year-olds: 1 teacher for every 8 children
  • 3-year-olds: 1 teacher for every 10 children
  • 4-year-olds: 1 teacher for every 10 children
  • School-age children: 1 teacher for every 18 children

These ratios allow our teachers to build strong, supportive relationships with each child and to focus on meeting their individual needs.

In the event of an emergency closure, we will notify families promptly through several channels. You can check the Brightwheel app for updates, visit our website, and follow our social media pages, where we will post any important announcements. These platforms will keep you informed about closures due to inclement weather, facility issues, or other emergencies.
